REF SSB Contest 2013

Hello colleagues radio-amateurs. In today's post I will write a few words about my participation in the REF SSB contest. Normally I should have written this post a week ago, but the pressure of time did not gave a free space to do that. Since among other things and had to prepare a speech for a presentation to the Association of Greek Amateur Radio on the digital mode PSK that will be presented in the offices of the Association at Sunday, March 3.

The contest REF CUP are known for several years and certainly is for many radio-amateurs an excellent opportunity to communicate with French colonies and other French-speaking countries in the world. Unfortunately the Saturday I don't got so very hot and the Sunday open the station a little bit late. Finally noon I began to do as many QSO I could.
I started at 15 meters band since the 10 was not traffic. Then I goes to 20 and at last to 40 meters until to the end of the contest. Eventually the clock has shown 8 pm local time and I put the microphone down at least I had finish another one contest. At last it came time to eat something and go to rest, because I needed both of them.

The participation of French stations was very good and I "threw" some French words sometimes ... hi-h! My impressions are very good, although I was not prepared at all and I hope that next year will run better. I hope so!

RSGB IOTA CONTEST 2012

My participation on the RSGB IOTA Contest 2012 from the Island of Aegina - Greece.

In today's post I will write a few words about my participation in RSGB IOTA CONTEST 2012.
I know this post is very late compared to the time that happened! Besides this, I delay to create this blog and that is the reason why I do not writing all of this months about my activities on the island of Aegina. Finally found the time and I dealt with the creation of the blog and update it almost daily.
My participation in the contest lasted twelve hours. I started the contest at 4:20 p.m. - the local time is a minus three hours from UTC - and I stopped at 4:20 a.m. and then I went to sleep.

In the video below you can get a little taste of my participation in the contest. I thank my cousin who came late at night to record those moments.

On video SV8CYV and TC0KLH

At the time that I participated in the IOTA contest I do 384 contacts - not bad - and 64 different IOTA ... that is was not very good! Anyway I did that I did but without the usage of internet and cluster services. Surely if I had internet and cluster I will had more IOTA.

The station setup was a radio ICOM IC-7400 with ICOM desktop microphone SM-6 and a G5RV antenna just six meters above the roof!

At this point I would like to thank all the stations who contacted me and I think the year 2013 I will participate again to RSGB IOTA Contest, probably with better results.
